Lydia and Jackie Langley on BBC Look North

Just over two years ago Jackie Langley, from Beverley, donated one of her kidneys to her friend and daughter’s favourite PE teacher David Mason but unfortunately David suffered a heart attack earlier this year and died. Determined to do anything to help Kidney Research UK, Jackie’s 11-year old daughter, Lydia, asked for donations to our charity rather than receive presents and raised an amazing £330.

This week Look North featured Jackie and Lydia. To view the news item, please refer to BBC Look North’s website (skip to 10:40).

Stephen King, who is the local Fundraising Manager, said: ‘I am blown away by Lydia’s gesture. I went to the school to receive the cheque and said a few words. It was a very emotional day. The school are also commemorating David at their annual sports day.’

Jackie’s husband is also cycling the length of Britain as we speak to raise funds for us.

What an amazing family.
